WHO AM I?
ABOUT CAMPBELL JOHNSON
I am an artist and future art educator from New Jersey who spends the majority of my time being creative. Whether it's through my position as the Community Programs Intern at the Harn Museum of Art or designing a magazine for this year's Tea Literary and Arts issue, I'm driven and passionate about spreading creativity.

I believe that art can transform the communities we immerse ourselves in, and I am determined to help others discover and develop their artistic talents. My coursework has allowed me to explore a range of media, from painting and drawing to graphic design and photography. I am also well-versed in art history, with an in-depth understanding of the cultural and historical contexts that have shaped artistic movements and styles. Through my coursework in Art History, I found the opportunity to travel abroad and learn more about specific periods of art. I hope to employ my passion for creativity with my ability to problem solve in an art-related field focusing on art history or art education.

Creativity
I would say my creativity began at a young age. However, as a student of the College of the Arts, I have to process ideas and create new projects constantly. Through traditional art practices of painting and drawing, my time at the University has allowed me to take my knowledge, and expand into mixed media practices that utilize recycled materials, sculptural elements, fibers & fabrics, and photography. Not only am I creative through my fine arts practices, but I've also transferred my creative knowledge to graphic design and photography. This has allowed me to expand my skillset to ruin multiple club Instagram accounts and begin a graduate photography business.
Problem Solving
Problem-solving is a huge part of the intern positions I've experienced as an undergrad. Working with children through the Harn Museum's Education programs has taught me a lot about my ability to adapt on the spot and use problem-solving skills. When planning a lesson, not only do I have to plan something suited to many skill levels, but I also have to be mindful of what materials I use. I have adapted lessons for those who are physically and visually impaired to make sure they can participate. Teaching and planning lessons takes numerous problem-solving skills and sometimes you won't be able to predict the outcome. However, I have been able to use my skills to adapt and change on the spot easily because of my experience teaching various age ranges and
levels of ability.
Leadership
As a student teacher, the ability to lead is a requirement for the K-12 classroom environment. Not only have I taken on the leadership role because it's required, but rather because it comes naturally to me. The classroom is all about adaptation and accepting control of the space. I have learned to pivot my teaching methods after seeing students respond better to written and visual explanations of processes. Recently, I had to adapt a lesson plan and show students different methods to reach an end goal because of a misunderstanding of instruction. Leadership comes with reflection. I tend to constantly ask myself what worked and what didn't to adapt and improve for future classroom management.
Accountability
As a highly involved student at the University of Florida, I have always been one to stick to my word. If I commit to being part of an event or posting on social media for the event, it will be done promptly. Accountability comes with my problem-solving and time-management skills because I rarely let someone down after committing to anything. Recently, I helped organize and run recruitment interviews for Gator Diplomats because our recruitment director was unable to be there early. Not only did this hold me accountable for the event's organization but also showed my commitment to the entire organization. As a result, the recruitment director gave me a shoutout as the "Hardest Working Dip" of the week, an honor Gator Diplomats gives to members who go above and beyond.
